2.3 "STEM Role Model Gallery Walk"

Objective: Create an interactive exhibit where students learn about diverse women in STEM through a gallery-style setup.

Instructions:

  • Choose 10-15 notable women in STEM fields and create large posters or displays with key information about their lives, challenges, and contributions to their field.
  • Set up the classroom or hallway with these displays in a "gallery walk" style.
  • Students walk through the gallery in pairs or small groups, reading the displays and taking notes.
  • Provide each student with a worksheet with questions such as:
  • Which role model’s story inspired you the most?
  • What common challenges did many of these women face?
  • What can be done to encourage more women to follow similar paths?
  • After the gallery walk, host a class discussion to share reflections and insights.

Extension: Encourage students to create new displays highlighting local women in STEM, or even interview a woman working in STEM to add a personal story to the gallery.
